Northern Ireland Joins the Bitcoin Revolution

Belfast Coffee Shop, Boden Park Coffee Company, has become the first company from Northern Ireland to accept bitcoin in store.

The family run coffee shop will now accept bitcoins for drinks and food using the same type of terminal traditionally used for credit card payments. Orla McKeating, speaking to the Belfast Telegraph stated “We have been open about a year-and-a-half. and we are always looking to expand in terms of products, services, and how we can improve

Orla had originally seen a coffee shop in Prague offering this service and decided, with her father Brian, that they should provide this service themselves. Brian has also decided to grasp the Digital Currency opportunity with both hands; he has now setup a firm to promote digital currency to local businesses and advise them how they can make the leap into using digital currency.

Brian and Orla got help and assistance from Niall Maye who has formed the Bitcoin Association Northern Ireland. The group is set to have it’s inaugural meeting at Boden Park Coffee Company on Thursday 28th May at 18:30.  Boden Park Coffee Company is on the Ormeau Road in Belfast.

Good Luck Brian and Orla, and keep us posted how it goes.
